The chosen project, data set, and recommendation(s) stemmed from a needs assessment done as a multidisciplinary approach to ensuring that LMHS meets the current and future needs of its medical staff. The identified concern was that the current locations for trainings, nursing residency education, orientation, and other meetings have had their locations renovated into patient care areas. This places a strain on the healthcare system as these scheduled meetings are necessary to ensure communications are disseminated, new employees are properly trained and oriented to current culture, and leadership is able to continue a forward thought process. These needs were isolated through meetings with each department, captured, and fed into an online survey …show more content…
Additional surveys were created off of the original platform as other departments that were initially not identified were included and the five main categories were modified. These surveys stayed open for a period of seven days for the user to complete.
Surveys were monitored daily with results imported to pdf files and forwarded to management. This single action created a domino effect within the project flow. First, the results continued to change daily as more users completed their survey. From the daily changes, management was able to validate the tool used for the project. Second, the department began to understand the evolution of the project. From the beginning stage of discussion, through the survey, to daily updates, all parties became vested in the outcome.

The third worksheet was research and background work on the legally defined space per Florida State Statue and other references. A space matrix calculator was built into the worksheet and current vendor information was obtained, included, and compiled into the application. The last worksheet was research on a possible simulation lab. This information included site visits to current colleges and universities within a 20 mile radius from the healthcare system that have nursing programs and simulation labs. Information was obtained and incorporated with a final recommendation to management. The workbook went through revisions as the results changed. Data is much like evidence at a crime scene; meaning it tells a story. By changing the platform based on the results of the data; the final version of the excel workbook will make a factual; interdisciplinary result based argument on
