Parents question if they should let their kids play tackle football at such a young age. Dr. Culverhouse does a wonderful job providing information to protect the health of kids all over the country. Gay Culverhouse. She was born on February 5, 1947 in Montgomery, Alabama. Gay is a former president of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Notre Dame College. Her father was the former owner of the Buccaneers as well. She served as president from 1991 to 1994. Gay Culverhouse was the founder of the Gay Culverhouse Players Outreach Program. This program helps assists former National Football League players by helping them receive benefits that they are entitled to. Those players have earned these benefits for their great determination while in the league. Dr. Culverhouse was inspired to help former players because of a former Buccaneers player by the name of Tom McHale. He suffered from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. Culverhouse tested before congress on head injuries in football. She successfully changed the policy of having neurologist on the sidelines for every National Football League game. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, and Times Magazine. She founded her non-profit organization in 2009 and still helps assists retired NFL players today.
