Many colleges understand that as a part of these Greek houses, students will gain fast friendships and communication skills to become leaders in the real world. As wonderful as this sounds, the processes in which new students must go through to join a sorority or fraternity have become outrageous in various ways. Many colleges don’t immediately eliminate Greek life, therefore not eliminating hazing, because the main purpose of the houses are to provide a small, welcoming community for incoming students. However, without implementing limitations to initiations, many pledgers are at risk of violence, humiliation, illegal acts, etc... Colleges should interact with the students leading the houses and settle on an agreement of rules regarding the hazing requirements.
