A great example of this is Frederick Douglass. He never stopped giving speeches about slavery despite all the negative criticism he received. “....the idea of speaking to white people weighed me down. I spoke but a few moments, when I felt a degree of freedom, and said what I desired with considerable ease.” (Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave - Springboard pg. #) Harriet Tubman is also an example of a person who didn’t give up on their cause. “There was one of two things I had a right to: liberty or death. If I could not have one, I would take the other, for no man should take me alive. I should fight for liberty as long as my strength lasted.” Harriet Tubman risked her life every time she rescued slaves. She was so dedicated that she kept making trips despite the fact that she could have gotten captured at any time. Later in 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white man on the bus, which started the Montgomery bus boycott. “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.” Rosa Parks was dedicated to her cause because she knew that it was the right thing. All of these people were dedicated to their cause that because they knew that what they were fighting for was the right
