Halloween in Twin Peaks

It had been a cool and damp October so far in the small, suburban town of Twin Peaks, which is famously named after the twin mountains overlooking the city below. The city has an ominous feeling due to regular misty fog, and thick woodlands. These are reasons the town is famous for Halloween events. Teenagers use this knowledge to their advantage to scare and terrorize the town. Jake and Brian, two teenagers, know all of this and plan something good for 2015 Halloween. The week of Halloween, Jake came to his friend Brian in the halls of their high school and explained his plan to scare the town. They decided they would lead a group of people into the woods by the twin peaks. They would promise a midnight scavenger hunt to find tons of candy, just to ambush them all with eggs, water, toilet paper, etc. Two days before Halloween, they would go to setup and spread the word about their “scavenger hunt.” While walking home they noticed something in the trees, and though they quickly dismissed it, it made them wonder.

To many, the end of October is a time of corn mazes, costume parties, and haunted houses. Many cultures celebrate harvest festivals during October, though none are as well-known as Halloween. The author doesn’t comprehend why there are parents who allow their children to participate in these kinds of events. The author then proceeds to assert that she doesn’t “get Halloween, ..the celebration, ..the pumpkins” and overall the “creepy ghostly” features on houses. The adoption of repetition is to prompt the idea to the audience that the whole celebration is chaotic to her and shows the reason why she has written this article. Moreover, the comment attached was written by another parent, Ellie, conveys an opposite point of views from Warren’s. Ellie informs in a relaxed tone that she views Halloween as a “street party” as the other parents are able to “chat, ..meet now neighbours” and the “kids (are able to) get some excitement” during this event.…
