School Shooting Essay

The plague of gun violence as taken over the country. School shooting occur from all corners of America. In the Schoolyard chapter of Rick Bragg’s book, described the school shootings at Westside Middle School orchestrated by two juvenile. On March 24, 1998, two boys ambushed students and teachers outside Westside Middle School in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Andrew Golden, 11 years old, and Mitchell Johnson, who was 13 years old, was responsible for the tragedy. The two boys, dressed head to toe in camouflage and hidden in a grove of tree, opened fire on students and teachers outside of the school. Mitchell was being made fun of because of he was slightly paunchy. Because of they were constantly being made fun of, the boys had tried to “cultivate a tough image as a tough guys”. Often bragged about being in gangs, the boys were trying to make others notice and pay attention to them.Their desire to seek attention can cause them to do the unthinkable. Always bragging and threatening that they will kill people has not yet give them the attention they wanted. Thus, this incited them to commit this horrendous and immoral crime. The media is also to blame. For the media is the ultimate way of getting attention. Getting your picture on the cover of Time and Newsweek is going out in a blaze of glory. School shooting is an event that is committed by a student with gun violence at a school campus or other institutions. This is becoming a very common and a serious in the United States. Common causes of these school shooting deprived from the desire to revenge, social media, and access to guns. School shootings cause a lot of sadness because children are getting injured and killed for no reason. It is important that school personnel and students aware of the possible threat and warning around
