The guitar is a string musical instrument which is very popular; it has between 4 and 18 strings. It makes sounds through acoustic means for an acoustic guitar or electrical amplification for an electric guitar. It is played through strumming the strings with the right hand while the left hand presses against the frets. The traditional guitar is constructed from wood and strung with either gut or nylon strings while the modern guitar started from the gittern, vihuela, the four-course renaissance and the five-course baroque guitars and right now we are working with the six -string guitar.

Sometimes the string is positioned above the first string on the other side. More tunings are used in the lower courses. They all differ from each other. The drone is at times left out thus resulting in a 5 course oud.
This instrument is pear shaped with 11-12 strings in a 5 or 6 courses. It is commonly used in the Arabic culture. It lacks frets and has a small neck. Modern ouds can either be Arabic or Turkish. Arabic ouds are usually larger than the Turkish ouds, making them produce a full and a deep sound. On the other hand the Turkish oud is more taut and shrill.
