If you look at Achilles in the Iliad he was the main hero of that book. He inspired plenty of people, but he mainly inspired Patroclus, so much that he wanted to go out and be just like him.Patroclus even went out and fight for Achilles and that's how he earned his fame he may have died, but people still respected him just because of what he did. Achilles is one of the greatest heroes and fighters among the Achaeans. No warrior in the Iliad comes close to being as great as Achilles. Everyone in the Iliad respected Achilles because he helped the Greeks solve their problems. Greek heroes were always extremely strong and brave. A big role with Greek heroes is their religious they have gods to help them in certain situations. In the Iliad when it was time for Hector and Achilles to fight the goddess Athena made herself look like Hector's brother just to help Achilles win the fight. There was almost always a God around during the Greek times.
Greek and modern day heroes are the same because they both have weaknesses and enemies.All heroes have something or someone who against them, a challenger to the ‘good of humankind’ who must be stopped or brought down. For example, in the Iliad, Achilles enemy at the end of the story was mainly Hector because of what he did to Patroclus. A modern day hero such as a soldier, his or her enemy would be ISIS. All heroes are respected whether
