Greek Government Vs Roman Government Essay

The Roman Empire was a better than then the empire of Greece. charistrics of a good government include; allowing many people be citizens, which is good because the government would have more people to support and expand the government; giving citizens, many rights, which is also good because it gives citizens rights so they can make the government stronger and by having a senate because it ensures the decisions and laws are correct.

The first reason the Roman Empire had a better government than Greece is because of the Roman senate. The Roman senate was made up of 300 men who inherited their spots. The group of men in the Roman senate were responsible for war policy, controlling lands, government decisions and making laws. The Roman government having the Roman senate was good because the senate was their way of keeping the government stable. In the Roman senate there were only 300 men, which is a very small number of people for the responsibility that they had. It was very hard to be in the Roman senate because you would have to inherit your spot from a family member who also was part of the senate. This form of law passing and decision making was better than Greece's way which was a group of 40,000 people who meet on on a hillside to discuss laws (Document f). having that many people gather in such a big place would have resulted in a situation such as somebody having a great idea and then only a small amount of people hear it and most liking it will never become a law.As a rule to have a good government you need to have a good way of making decisions such as what laws to make and when to go to war. you also need to have reliable people making these decisions. Another reason the Roman empire was a better emperor than the Greek empire is because they let many people by citizens. In the Roman Empire all people were considered citizens unless you were a slave or your parents were either not born in certain areas or were not Roman citizens (Document A). In the Roman Empire if you were a citizens you could own property, accuse people of wrong doing and vote unless you were a women and then you could only vote and own property. Since you could accuse someone for doing something bad then you could get that person out of the government and that person could have been a threat to the government. when you get red of the people that could be a threat to the government it improves the government because the people can hurt the government are gone. All roman citizens could vote which means in elections more people are voting which gave more accurate results on big decisions like who is going to rule. As a rule when you get rid of people that could hurt the government then you are a good government because there ain't people that are making the government a bad place. as a rule when more people are voting on elections there will be accurate results because there are lots of people to make the
