One lens which the musical is being presented through and based is live. Meaning anything can happen, the actors can mess up, forget lines, or an accident may occur. There is no editing or retakes, what the audience sees is what they get. The set moves with the characters and vice versa. Another lens also portrays the musical as have an old time feel in the past. The set was made to look as close to a high school back in the 50s despite it being 2016. They made the characters look from the 50s making them wear leather jackets with slicked back hair and the ladies long dresses with white socks and shoes. Even the tiny details of the food they ordered in the musical, such as the striped red and white straws in the soda bottles or the cups for the milkshakes. The types of cars in the musical, once again, despite being 2016, are retro and match the 50s taste of cars back then. The cast uses dialogue that was used back in the day, even though they may not make sense now. The slang of the cast adds a nice touch to make the audience really feel as if it were the 50s. My favorite part of the musical was surprisingly the musical numbers, especially “Summer Nights.” The dancing and the singing of all the actors all participating added a happy feel over all to the mood. The actors all looked so happy and the fact that it was live was better. Another favorite part of mine was the dance competition. Everyone dancing and having a good time with each other rather than caring about the contest just made it a delightful scene to watch. There was so much energy and I could tell all the actors loved singing and dancing. However, when Danny starts to dance with Cha Cha although, it was not Sandy I still enjoyed their finale. Also, right from the beginning, I found myself very annoyed with Jan. I just could not stand her voice or her personality. She was always saying and doing random things that did not flow well with the musical. Rizzo also started to annoy me due to her constant mood swings towards everyone, however, at the end I began to like her again, I can’t say the same for Jan though. I think Grease is always going to be one of my favorite musicals. It is so energetic and grabs the
