On the verge of losing consciousness, I asked myself repeatedly: "What am I doing with my life?" Is it too late for me? I had no answer; my mind blanked out from exhaustion and terror. Stress has built itself up over the years from voices of several people that believed their insights were helpful. "You are not getting any younger; you have siblings" they would all say. Art was always a part of my life, but why?
Throughout high school academics wasn't my strong suit, I was more of a visual student and always did exceptionally well in all art-related activities. These activities included media class, fashion shows, and yearbook. After high school, I received acceptance from various schools like Pratt and the art institute of Delaware. Instead of me perusing school, I decided to emerge myself straight into my field, Graphic design. I created a small business which included making party invitations and church flyers. I even took one audit class in Adobe to try to expand my craft. Over time my passion for graphic design faded into a hobby and my new love for textile sprung up. Even though in this program I will be receiving an associate's degree, it is so flexible that I can maneuver into other interest like fashion or graphic marketing. This university is that extra push that I need to excel and reach my full potential. Ideally, I should have completed my four years of traditional college this past spring 2017. But this program allows one to step away from traditional ways and build their major in a time frame suitable for them. I lived in Maryland which is a drastic change from the New York lifestyle.
