John Bau Dau a man who traveled for months to find a place where he and the other refugees would be able to call home, a place where they wouldn’t be hunted like animals, a place where they would be treated like human beings. One refugee camp he stayed at was Ethiopia. John stayed there for months, until one day it all changed for them. The caretakers said the other refugees and him had to leave before the war started for the socialist government, soon leaving the government in the hands of their enemies, causing them to start their journey again, leading to another camp for a place to stay.

In America we had a hard time adjusting to his new way of life. One lady told him, “Who are you? Who brought you here? Go back to your f------ country! You are stupid.”(John 228). In john words there are good and bad people in the U.S. but that didn’t affect him. All he was trying to do was his job, go by the book and do what the right thing to do is. He respected everyone.
