Healthy People 2020 Goals and Objectives
Healthy people 2020 is trying to reduce the number of people affected by diabetes type 2 among the U.S. populations. “From 1980 to 2014, the number of adults in the United States aged 18-79 with newly diagnosed diabetes more than tripled from 493,000 in 1980 to more than 1.4 million in 2014” (Annual Number (in thousands) of New of Diagnosed Diabetes Among Adults Aged 18-79 years, 2015). This shows numbers have gone up and more people are dying from diabetes in the United States. Healthy people has set objectives that are used to reduce the number of newer cases of people with diabetes and help modify behaviors that lead to risk of becoming a possible type 2 diabetes patient. This helps them develop plans and programs to use on the populations at risks of developing diseases. Responsibility I, assess the needs of the population at which they are focusing on. Health educators analyse the advantages and the disadvantages of the ways in which they can help that specific population. Responsibility II, is the plan of health education. In this responsibility, the health educator is in charge of planning the where, what and when the programs will take place to promote health education. For Responsibility III, the program is implemented in other words put in action.Responsibility IV is when the health educator after the programs was put in action evaluates the programs effectiveness. In Responsibility V, the health educator is in charge of coordination how activities will run for those programs. As for for Responsibility VI , the educator 's job is to be in charge of doing most of the research and have lots of knowledge on the issue to be able to inform others in the profession. The last Responsibility, which would be the 7th is the most important out of all. Health educators have to have the capacity to be able to advocate and communicate with the community, health care professionals and others affected in the best possible way to try to improve the areas they want. Now that the responsibilities are stated two intervention will be analysed to show how they were used on the prevention programs for Diabetes type
