Go-Karts: A Fictional Narrative

Improved Essays
On the way to Colorado the family had stopped in North Platte, Nebraska at Cody Go-Karts. However, it had looked like a replica of an old, wooden, log fort. Outside of the fort-like track the sound was inaudible, but once inside it, it was a dome full of sound. The sound of the Go-kart tires screeched as they went around the turns. Some going really fast making the family wonder if they were alright or if they had gotten whiplash. It smelt like a jungle of excitement, fun, freedom, and burnt rubber. Once on the track they could feel the adrenaline shoot through them at 100 miles per hour. The family could hear the whine of the engine getting tired from being run all day. She had felt the littlest of rocks and cracks under the tires as they had flown past the other racers. Hannah could hear the roar of the crowd as she rounded that last vigorous corner. As she shot through the finish line she could feel the adrenaline start to drain from her body. After she had parked the Go-kart, she went and joined her family to celebrate. The family left Cody Go-Karts and started to head for Colorado. On the way there, Hannah saw about a million wind turbines, to her they looked like giant planes on sticks. As they passed the wind turbines they made their way into Colorado. The family had stumbled upon Estes Park, being the first part of their extravagant journey. They see all these lovely, green leaved trees. They had taken this one curvy road that brought them through a maze of trees until they came upon a church. St. Mary’s Chapel was a church built out of rock and stone. On the left side of the entrance stood this gigantic, Jesus Christ Statue. He was standing on a pedestal holding one hand up pointing to the cloudless sky. In total, it was about 200 feet away from where they were standing. …show more content…
The statue itself looked the purest of white’s as the beautiful sun was shining down on him. They could smell the freshest of air and the holy water as it radiated out into the wilderness blessing as much of Estes Park as it could reach. They could have walked up to it and seen it a bit closer, but they decided not to because they had other places to go see and visit. They left after taking in the whole sight and capturing brilliant pictures of Jesus Christ himself standing in all his glory. They stopped at a wildlife reserve and bought some stuffed animals. All three of the kids got a stuffed moose, Hannah’s had the brightest of pink sweaters saying Colorado on it and the other two got the same exact stuffed moose with the darkest of navy blue sweaters. As they were leaving they saw some white-tailed deer and elk prancing around in the woods. Hannah thought she had seen some mountain lions lying in the sun, having it shine off of their magnificent tan colored fur, but to her they were giant instead of normal size, so that was a clue telling her that it was just a figment of her imagination, of her wanting to see one really badly. She didn’t tell the others because she didn’t want them thinking she was crazy or that she was seeing crazy things. So

After putting on our bright pink leotards and ballet shoes, which trust me we're not the most fashionable, we went out to the car to wait on Dianna’s mom. I should mention it was still raining as if the earth would flood outside, this made it slightly hard to hear but we ran out to the car anyway. Me, Dianna, and Dalton bolted through the door, sprinting to the car that Dianna had unlocked with the small remote. The cold rain made the humid, hot day not feel as bad as the rest of that summer had been, which was dry and hot. When we got into the car we sat for a bit but then Dianna decided she wanted to turn on the music so she jumps to the front seat of the car.…

It was 12 feet tall, painted with tempera, along with gold thin lines throughout the painting that show great importance. The virgin Mary holds the child on a giant throne that is surrounded by angels. Mary, Jesus and the angels have golden painted light behind their heads which resembles their halos. The beautiful gold and attention made so eye catching that I had to write about. It’s a wonderful piece of artwork and it would be perfect to stand inside of a church. I wish we knew who the artist was, so that could get the praise for such a wonderful job. I think this one stands out from many of the different The Virgin Mary sculptures during that time because of it’s color and the paintings at the bottom. I feel like the paintings at the bottom brings and emotional feeling to the piece and also adds to the story.…
