Impact of Global Standards One (GIS) on hospitals and medical device companies
The global standards have had immense impacts on hospitals and medical device companies. In an article by McKinsey and Company entitled, Strength in Unity: The promise of global standards in healthcare, the impacts of these standards have been clearly articulated. From the onset, the global standards have been presented to have created a world where records of patients are captured clearly with the doses and medical devices being used along with the details of the physician ordering the product and the administering nurse. As a result of these standards, pharmacies and hospitals are now able to know the right location of the drugs and other medical devices they need as well as the right time these important devices will get delivered to them. It is also as a result of these same standards that regulators are able to recall the products that may have been adulterated with immense levels of accuracy(Ebel et al, 2012). Consequently, processes and points in the supply chains can be sped up, a fact that will ultimately lead to quick, prompt, efficient and effective delivery of the required devices and drugs.
