Giraffes usually get their energy from food and sleep. Giraffes eat leaves from Acacia, Mimosa, and Apricot trees. Not only do they eat leaves, they also eat plants, fruit, and sometimes grass. They are herbivores, therefore they only eat plants. The giraffe’s favorite food is the leaves from an Acacia tree. Acacia tree leaves have a lot of water in them, so the giraffe does not need to drink water as much. A giraffe can usually eat up to 75 pounds of food each day.
