Perlasca worked with Raoul Wallenberg between November 1944 and January 1945.He continued making fake passports from April through August in 1898. After the Spanish World War ended he returned back to Italy he didn’t do anything to get him noticed because he didn’t want his story to get out. Perlasca was contacted by one of the families that he made fake passports for and helped get out of Mexico, that’s when his story got out to everyone. (Levine, 2016)
After the Holocaust ended Perlasca’s story got out to everyone, he became a name that when people heard they knew about him and everything that he had done. In 1987 Perlasca was made an Honorary Citizen of Israel. Also in 1990 He received a medal of remembrance from the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Unfortually Perlasca passed away from a heart attack on August 15th 1992. He passed in his own house in Padua, Italy. (Hellenstien, 1992)
Giorgio is a good representation that you don’t need to be a strong fighter to be able to make a difference. If you have the right mind set you can do anything.
