Dereck Chauvin, the officer involved in the death of George Floyd, caused a lot of civil unrest, the need for reform, and overall problems for the criminal justice system. He used deadly force on George Floyd, which caused all of this. Protests broke out, lives were destroyed, and violence broke out all around the world. This incident affected the police department, multiple different communities, and called for a new act called the George Floyd act of 2021. What Happened in the George Floyd Case? On May 25th in the year 2020 in Minneapolis Minnesota George Floyd who was a forty-six-year-old African American man lost his life (Brooks, 2020).
