Due to the many instances of mistreatment we can understand that Mary Shelley would be against cloning today. One specific instance where the monster was treated poorly was when he was at the cottage. While it was inside talking to the old man, Felix came home, saw them and the creature said that, "Felix darted forward, and with supernatural force tore me from his father, to whose knees I clung, in a transport of fury, he dashed me to the ground and struck me violently with a stick" (Shelley pg. 15). Another instance was when he helped a little girl out of the water that was drowning. The creature said, "On seeing me, he darted towards me, and tearing the girl from my arms, hastened towards the deeper parts of the wood. I followed speedily, I hardly knew why; but when the man saw me draw near, he aimed a gun, which he carried, at my body and fired"(Shelley pg. 16). These quotes are perfect examples of how much Mary Shelley dislikes the monster. Even though the monster tried to do some good the people still treated him bad. These examples show that Mary Shelley would be anti-cloning today. She wants to show that even though it was trying to do some good, in the long run she will still be against the monster. Not only is the creature treated poorly but it also treats others
