1). Gender: The state of being male or female (typically used with reference to social or cultural differences rather than biological ones). 2). Gender Roles: Is a set of societal norms dictating the types of behaviours which are generally considered acceptable, appropriate, or desirable for people based on their actual or perceived sex or sexuality. 3). Gender Equality: Also known as sex equality, gender egalitarianism, sexual quality or equality of the genders is the view that everyone should receive equal treatment and not be discriminated against based on their gender. 4). Non-Discrimination: Fair and unpredicted treatment of different categories of people. IMAGE 1 IMAGE 2 Image 1 is a stereotyped based image about men having more money than woman, resulting in men being the” breadwinners”. The image boldly shows us that woman are incapable of achieving what men can achieve, it also gives us the idea that woman are looked down upon due to them being the opposite sex than to the male and that they shouldn’t be able to earn as much money as men nor have the privilege of working in vast growing corporations and achieving what men are believed to achieve. Image 2 is also stereotyped and has a gender role, it shows that the woman are stay at home wives who have to care for the house, their husbands and children. It indirectly shows the strength of a woman, giving us woman the upper hand and benefit of the doubt as it proves we are able to handle any situation. Media can either act in a positive or negative manner, by being positive they can create awareness for all woman ensuring they are safely guarded at all times from possible discrimination and humiliation, or it can give all woman who dress “inappropriately” an even harder time and lead to further humiliation and discrimination. An example of a scenario which I am familiar with, an elderly lady whom of which was a nun and aged between her 60s and 70s was brutally assaulted and raped, my personal opinion on the matter is that regardless of what you wear, if men feel the need or the urge to feel more “empowered” by raping or discriminating a woman they unfortunately will do so, regardless of the dress
