Difference is what Stargirl is throughout the novel Stargirl. At the beginning, Stargirl was sitting at lunch alone and it states “As before, when she finished eating, she took up her ukulele. But this time she didn’t play. She got up and started walking among the tables. She stared at us…Happy Birthday dear Alan Fer-kooooh.” This shows that she is different from the rest of the students. Also when Stargirl was at a basketball game and she was a cheerleader and it says that “...the other team scores, the MAHS crowd sits glumly on their hands while Stargirl, alone, pops up cheering. At first the other cheerleaders tried to suppress her;” This shows that Stargirl is happy for others while other people are sad.
