Harris Husher Senior, (LCPC) Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, (CRA) Certified Research Administrator and an (MA) in Rehabilitation Counseling. As a clinician, he has been practicing in the counseling field for eighteen years and he has been a Clinical Director for Gaudenzia’s intensive outpatient program for seven years. In addition to overseeing the daily operation of Gaudenzia’s IOP. He promotes the development of the counselor’s skills and approaches through evaluations and assessments and addresses legal and ethical issues within mental health and substance abuse counseling. Husher, I describe my personal counseling experience and motivation for becoming a counselor. I discussed the eight years of substance abuse counselor in the following treatment settings; inpatient, intensive outpatient, and methadone treatment programs. Becoming an addiction counselor fulfills my need to help others. Assisting individuals with getting out of the malicious cycle of addiction and becoming productive members of society is very rewarding for me. The intern work plan was reviewed by myself and Mr. Husher. The plan consisted of the following developmental goals and skills; conducting the bio-psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, discharge, referral, individual and group counseling.
