Back before Demacia existed, lone bands of refugees wandered across the lands, searching for a home and protection against the dark mages.
Finally, they came upon an ancient forest, where the wood of the trees was instilled with anti magic capabilities.
And the refugees all agreed this would be their new home.
So they started a city, and they called it Demacia.
They used the trees and combined them with ash and lime to create petricite, a hard stone like substance.
They used this to build their city.
Demacia then grew to be one of the strongest cities in the world, and with a disciplined military all they needed was a way to take their anti magic petricite into battle. So the leaders of the city asked the most talented sculptor to make them something for their army. And the scultore did as they requested, but not as they imagined it to be. The sculptor created a gigantic winged statue named Galio that was constructed out of petricite This soon became the eternal symbol of Demacia's strength and power. Every battle, the Demacians used huge amounts of rope, and oxen to pull Galio to the battle. And when he arrived, he struck fear in the enemies hearts and boosted allied morale while at the same time protecting them from harmful magic. Demacia then started a war with Noxus, one of the only cities that equaled Demacias strength. This battle was different though as unknowingly to Demacia, Noxus had prepared their five most powerful mages and spellcasters to take down the sentinel. During the first battle, Demacia dragged out Galio to the battlefield, but suddenly a huge supernova of spells released by the five mages struck Galio and broke through Galio’s anti magic aurora. For the next thirteen days, Demacia’s dwindling army huddled under cover against the bombardment of Noxus’s spells, unable to retreat or fight without the protection of Galio. But a new sound emerged amongst the explosion of spells as the sound of two mountains grinding together shook the battlefield. And all gazed in awe as the giant statue began …show more content…
And the story eventually transformed into a mythical legend of Demacia history
But Galio’s consciousness still existed inside the giant body, craving to fight but unable to move.
Only another huge amount of magical power could awaken him again.
But this gave the statue time to think and observe.
The people that visited his feet in the city square came and went.
He puzzled why they would disappear and be replaced by different people with different faces.
Galio questioned where they went and thought maybe they would sent away to be refurbished and repainted like he was after every battle.
One day after a short skirmish with the Freljord barbarians, the Demacian army returned to the city with soldiers carrying beds covered with blankets.
A blanket fell off of one bed and Galio saw the pale face of a young man who he saw earlier that very day.
And in that moment Galio realized, that the people could not be refurbished or repainted like himself, they were weak and frail compared to him and now he knew how much they needed his
