“There is nothing I would not do for those who are really my friends. I have no notion of loving people by halves, it is not my nature.” (Jane Austen). As you go through your life, you meet new people and say goodbye to the ones you have known. There are the acquaintances, the frenemies the close friends, and the best friend. These types of friends will either stick with you or leave. Nonetheless, you as a person should be able to interpret who is who. You never know, it might just help you in the future.
According to The Dictionary, an acquaintance is ‘a person known to one, but not a close friend.’ So you walk in to a new class, and you see nobody that you know. Out of the corner of your eye you see that girl, we will call her Annie for now, and you start to make your way towards her. Now Annie is the person that you pass in the hallways without a glance or a wave. You might have a small conversation here or there, but in other words, you are practically strangers. Nonetheless, as you walk in to the class of unknown people, you have the option to fend for yourself or go sit next to Annie and talk. She is after all the only person that you know in the class. In other words, you only talk to this person in this one class. This is why they are known as the acquaintance. The frenemy is one of the most complicated friendships that you will have. Face to face, you are all smiles, but once one of you turns your back, the smiles are replaced with grimaces and eyerolls. Although some people will take no time to deny having a frenemy, everybody has or has had one in their life. One of the most obvious examples of a frenemy is the group of girls in the movie Mean Girls. The movie is full of backstabbing and the humiliation of others. As a result, one of the reasons the movie became so big is that people can relate to it. There is a scene in the movie where Regina, the head of the mean girls, compliments a passing girls skirt only to turn to Cady and declare how ugly she thought the skirt was. This gets you to think about all the times that you have complimented someone, only to turn back and gossip about them with your friends. You can not trust

Now this is the friend that greets your parents by their first names and walks in to your house with out knocking. You can annoy and fight with your best friend to the for months, and in the end you will still be there for each other. You share an unbreakable bond that will be with you for a long time. Secrets will be shared and they will be there for you to cry on their shoulder when you are down. Your best friend will get you in to more trouble than anyone that you will come to know. But on the other hand, you will stand up for eachother no matter what. An example would be Vee and Nora in the book Hush Hush. There is a part in the book where Vee is stuck at a party in the bad side of town, and Nora rushes in the direction of danger just to save her. In other words, your best friend will always be there for

This also implies situations that happen a lot in the real world. There are a lot of people who judge a couple or two people that have been best friends for a long period of time, where they start having feelings for each other, it’s at that exact moment where some people don’t agree with the relationship or they start judging them just because they started off as best friends or maybe even when that connection…

Whenever something about a friendship is bothering me, I always refer to my definition of friendship. Being a friend is giving as much care, support, understanding, trust, and sacrifice as I can. These characteristics--- care, support, understanding, trust, and sacrifice--- are all foundations of friendship that are supported by “Do Your Friends Actually Like You?” by Kate Murphy, Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, and my own personal experience.…

When you and a soon-to-be friend get to know each other you may eventually get to their core and share personal connections with them. I learned that it is not easy moving around and finding someone you can actually hang out with and that I did not do my best of keeping a friendship. I did not know that leaving that summer I would never see or talk to Mary again, but I also did nothing to keep that friendship going once I knew it was coming to an end. Not all friendships work out, but sometimes, in this situation, you can use mediated communication and that friendship could last a life time if you put in the…

Break ups between friends can sometimes end up being more difficult than the separation with a significant other. When I was in high school, I found myself in a mildly toxic friendship. I met her in the seventh grade and while at that time I found her to be one of my best friends, as we got older the friendship began to grow more strenuous. Occasionally it turns out that people can end up being a completely different person than who you think they are. When I was sixteen years old, I realized just how tough it was to maintain a true friendship when the girl that I thought was one of my closest friends became somebody I felt I didn’t even know.…

I am a firm believer in the saying you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with. This belief has always stayed in the back of my mind when deciding who I wanted in my social circle.
