A lot of college freshman do not realize truly how expensive textbooks are, they probably think that a couple hundred dollars will be more than enough to spend on books for all of their classes. But in reality, students spend on average $655 on textbooks a year, but with a single textbook easily costing as much as $300, that total can easily be much higher, according to the National Association of College Stores (NACS). It’s extremely sad to see that some families have to accumulate a lot of debts to be able to afford tuition as well as buy books. In fact, a lot of students who comes from poor economic backgrounds failed to attend college because of such high costs. It’s outrageous to see the cost of textbooks is as expensive as tuition fee, and only to be use for a quarter. And in some classes, students barely even use the books. With all these being said, Universities should consider given or rent out books to students for free. This chance will make a huge impact on students since it will be a great relief for them and parents who don’t have to incur debts or worrying about buying the costly
