My Explorer, I am doing research on is Francisco Vasquez de Coronado. He was born on 1510 from a Noble family. He was born in Salamanca Spain. Coronado was a younger son,he did not stand to inherit his family. Instead, Coronado sought to make it on his own. Coronado married Dona Beatriz, which was the daughter of Alonso de Estrada, the colonial treasurer. Spain sent and paid Coronado to find the 7 cities of gold. The Seven Cities of Gold is just Seven Cities with gold paint on the buildings.

After Coronado's journey, he spent the rest of his life as a member of the city council of Mexico city. His death is unknown because it does not tell if he died or not it just told where he lived until he died but his death date is unknown. Coronado was a man of interest to Spain they thought he would find the 7 cities of gold. When they heard he didn’t they were disappointed but they probably felt relief that they at least discovered something. Really the 7 cities of gold were just houses painted with gold paint which none of them knew about until he was not able to find them. A string of Indian settlements built near what is now west-central New Mexico the tribes there was the tribe that made up a rumor about the 7 cities of gold. Coronado used black and Indian slaves to work in the mind. The following year he became the governor of the province of Nueva Galicia. Coronado set sail with 300 Spanish men and hardly 1000 Indians. His men became the first Europeans to see the Grand Canyon. Coronado died on September 22nd, 1554. Vázquez de Coronado became one of the first European explorers to visit the American West. Nobody really has proof that he was one of the first Europeans to visit the American West but no one will ever

This was a simplification of the Spanish goals hoping to be reached during their time in the New World. First, “God” signifies the conversion of the natives to Catholicism. Second,“Gold” means that the conquistadors wanted to acquire bullion, or gold and silver, to further increase the wealth of Spain.…
