I would like to give you a little history about the Fourth of July; This day was told to be the day that America commemorated the birth of the United States of America as an Independent nation. July 4, 1776, was not the day Continental Congress decided to declare it’s independence, it was July 2, 1776. We celebrate this date because that’s the time Continental Congress approved as the final wording of the Declaration of Independence. They submitted the draft July 2, 1776; July 4, 1776, was the year included in the Declaration of Independence, and August was when the copy was signed. We celebrate July 4th with fireworks, families, concerts, picnics, parades, barbecues and baseball games. Independence Day also represents security, discrimination, wealth, poverty, fear, happiness, democracy, opportunity, and fame. The black community spends more money than most social-economic communities. We leave our neighborhoods to spend money in other communities; we need to rethink what we would like our community to represent.
We have many challenges that we deal with on a daily basis. I believe education is one of those challenges. Education shall be critical to us. Education is the process of learning and acquisition of knowledge, skills, and values. The community must work together to bring schools back to our neighborhoods. If we want to give our children every opportunity in this country, then we must work harder toward getting a high-quality education for them.
We must attend all meeting regarding our kids whether it’s in the schools, or outside of the schools, we are their voices. We need to fight for them so they would be able to have higher-quality education, good teachers, adequate resources and diverse
