Section B is the main part of the questionnaire survey to analyze the four factors of perception rail transportation. The reliability, accessibility, value added service, and cost is play the important role for the shipper to decide which type of mode is suitable to carry their cargo that fulfill all the cargo criteria. This question is focus on the level of rail freight transportation perception.
1. Reliability
The reliability is the important transportation criteria that shipper always look before choose the mode of transportation in giving the trust to carry their cargo. In logistics service it can be defines as the consistency of travel time on a determined origin to destination for the possible repetitions …show more content…
There three respondents from chemical product, logistics, and other are “disagree”. Six respondents from chemical product, farm product, crude petroleum and natural gas, other, and logistics are chosen “agree”. Lastly one respondent from logistics is “strongly agree” with the question statement. In theoretical the cargo on rail transportation is hard to be stealing because it carries a large cargo such as bulk and containerization. The theft could be happen at the stations when the transshipment for consolidation or break-bulk cargo is performing. The rail service provider has a procedure of cargo arrangement at the station to protect the cargo from theft intention so that the probability for the cargo theft is low.
Question 9: Project movement efficient
Project movement efficient is the double track railway project to allow both rail transports from two side move at the same time. This project is to make the rail movement efficient and effective by reduce the delay time at the intersection railway. The rail transport is usually will stop at certain point to give a way for other rail at front to passing. With two track railway the future service can perform better. The figure 4.14 above show the positive perception when seven respondents were “agree” and other three respondent chosen “strongly agree”.
Question 10: Fixed schedule …show more content…
The respondents have different perceptions in this question. One respondent from chemical product is chosen “strongly disagree”, two respondents from chemical product and crude petroleum and natural gas chosen “disagree”, five respondent from farm product, crude petroleum and natural gas, other, and logistic companies chosen “agree” and lastly two respondent from other and logistic chosen “strongly agree”. The railway accessibility is in progress of improvement the access and it takes long time to build the rail infrastructure. Currently the progress of upgrading the rail station and double track railway become a priority to make the movement more efficient and effective. The station location toward the industrial area are limited it is the reason some respondents are not agree with the question statement. The station is built near to the industrial areas to carry cargo in long distance shipment and also to several ports. Most of the respondent located near to the rail stations that make them easy to access the rail freight
