Fossils tell the story of the past, the past history of Earth organisms in the time from of about 3.8 billion years to now. There is much to learn about our past for the future. We can learn about dinosaurs, animals and plants. We can also learn about their relationship with each other. Today, we have many items that come from fossils. Gasoline to run our cars, to the headsets we listen to music with and use in class comes from plastics that have been made from the oils that have come from the study of fossils and fossils themselves.

Knowledge of how life has evolved also helps Doctors know more about diseases of modern times. Studies of the chemical characteristics of fossil organisms has given us so many answers today of changes in
