Forensic science is the application of various scientific techniques and methods to investigate the physical Crime evidence. Forensic science links the Suspect, victim to crime scene, and link victim to suspect and suspect to victim. To determine the relevance of the evidence, number of different techniques are being used. This evidence is than presented in court of law in order to determine the innocence or guilt of a suspect. Different type of cases are encountered like rape, murder, robbery and various evidence is left on these crime scene including the human biological traces. Identifying the body fluid from forensic sample is essential in criminal investigation for example in sexual assault or rape case, Donors will probably …show more content…
In many situations this question of origin and type of the cells in stain could be of importance to establish a link between evidence and crime: blood stains attributed to rape or homicide by the police but claimed to be of menstrual origin by the suspect or the presence of saliva or vaginal secretions on penile swabs, just to mention a few examples. Easily available presumptive tests with high specificity exist for semen (PSA) but not for other body fluids. Cell-specific mRNA detection could be of great help in forensic investigation : high sensitivity is available due to PCR amplification, high specificity due to gene expression, which is unique for the function of cells and organs ,while simultaneous DNA isolation can be done without loss of …show more content…
For example, perpetrators DNA profile from skin may have a different meaning to case than if the profile originated from spermatozoa. In instance of sexual assault with foreign object penetration or digital penetration, identification of vaginal Secretion transferred to object might be critical in establishing the circumstances of the assault. Different serological method or DNA profiling are available for body fluid identification but none are available to differentiate the cells from vaginal cell and saliva[13]. mRNA is an intermediate template in protein synthesis is a target for analysis of gene expression pattern because it revels the activities of genes within a certain tissue type at certain point of time[13]. mRNA expression pattern provides cells and tissue specific information for the identification of body fluid. Research shows the stability of RNA in the body fluid and sufficient quantity and quality of RNA are recovered from various different body fluid. [2]. RNA analysis have also been able to offer insight into mechanism leading to death and helpful tool for diagnosis cause of the
