All one needs to do is walk into a fast food restaurant or even a supermarket to see unhealthy choice after unhealthy choice made by everyday customers. More than one-third(35.7%)of the United States population are considered to be overweight or obese(National Institutes of Health). Making it that 35.7% of the population is more likely to have a stroke, heart disease, high blood pressure, and more. The government of the U.S. should be able to regulate the kind of foods and the amount of food that the people can consume. It is absurd how much caffeine and sugary drinks that schools, movie theatres, and gas stations offer to students and adults. There are also about 90.6 milligrams of caffeine in a 32oz soft drink. Too much caffeine can cause kids and adults to get headaches, upset stomachs, to have trouble concentrating and focusing, have trouble sleeping, and it can increase heart rates/ blood pressure. Currently, soft drinks are being sold more and more at schools. For example, 16.4 percent of elementary schools, 45 percent of middle schools, and 76.8 high schools have vending machines that sell sugary and caffeinated sodas on their campuses(CDC). Schools are a place to learn not to sell kids food and drinks that can just make it harder for them to concentrate. Fast food restaurants may be an easy and effective way to have a dinner while you are busy running errands or just out-and-about being busy, but nutritionally wise it is not a good idea. Fast food can eventually lead to extra calories, blood sugar spike, headaches, shortness of breath, and weighty problems. There are about 160,000 fast food restaurants in America and about 50,000,000 get served daily by a fast food restaurant(Statistic Brain Research Institute). Government interference in the fast food industry would decrease the numbers in both of these categories and will help the country stay
