I was under the impression that special education students did not really have measurable goals, other than attendance and positive behavior. I did not realize that they were still trying to offer a quality education to students, based on their IEP and goals. There are many services that can be offered to different special education students, and I was not aware that they could be individually decided. I assumed that the services available were subject to the services already offered at the school in question. I would definitely apply this content to my own classroom instruction by researching services and tools that are best for individual students, and finding out how I can bring those services to my school and classroom in order to best serve my …show more content…
I would also love to learn more about physical education, and the role that plays in special education. I plan to do a ton of independent research, as well as continue to use the Grand Canyon University library to read up on topics that I have more questions about. I have become extremely motivated in finding answers to questions, and to exploring areas that I was previously unfamiliar with. This class has certainly enhanced my knowledge of special education law, the process of obtaining services via the IEP team and IEP itself, as well as more adequately prepared me for the due diligence that is required of a special education teacher. I have started to apply this knowledge by keeping database of information on my computer, a list of articles and resources to read from, and a notepad that is full of questions to ask future instructors. My special education experience has just started, and I plan to make the very best of my
