Many films outlast their initial release and have long lasting influence on our culture. The influence of Star Wars, in particular, is undeniable even by someone who has not seen a single film in the series considering the franchise has stayed relevant consistently in the almost 40 years since the release of the original in 1977. The film industry also has a significant impact on the economy, both through how much money they make and how certain films affect us personally. Films also influence how we perceive other cultural diversity through how they affect our state of mind. Interest in film is ever-increasing which leads to new innovations in how we watch movies. In short, although films are possibly the best source of entertainment, they have great value in other areas. In future research, I hope that similar arguments to mine can be made toward the television and video game industries since I believe similar values can be found there. I argue for the value of film since I believe that it has significant impact on our lives as Americans and our culture would be vastly different without it.
