Figueroa’s Framework: Figueroa’s Framework is a structure created by Peter Figueroa containing 5 separate levels that display factors within society that influences a persons engagement and participation in sports and physical activity. Peter created this framework to make access to sport fairer and easier for everyone. This report will particularly focus particularly on 2 of the levels of the framework, The individual and interpersonal levels.. The interpersonal level is the way you are influenced by surrounding people for example your class mates, friends, coaches, role models and most importantly family members. Individual Level: The individual level of Figueroa’s Framework is personal barriers the effect your sporting abilities such as genetic advantages or disadvantages, self esteem levels, your attitudes towards things swell as your beliefs just to name a few. Interpersonal factors have played a part in my participation of many sports including swimming. One of the factors that have highly effected my swimming ability is my personal beliefs and attitudes towards swimming as i dont particularly see swimming as a competitive sport, but as a recreational activity therefore my skills aren 't developed enough to swim competitively compared to someone who believes swimming is a competitive sport. This also causes me to not enjoy swimming when put into a competitive environment as i cant perform as well. An interpersonal situation that could effect some one is their body type as they may not have the same build as many swimmers therefore putting them at an disadvantage. Making their participation and swimming results slowly decrease as they cant perform to the standards of others, causing self esteem to also be effected. Which is also another factor that effects their personal swimming enjoyment. Interpersonal Level: The interpersonal level is the way you are influenced by surrounding people for example your class mates, friends, coaches, role models and most importantly family members. The interpersonal level of Figueroa’s Framework has impacted my swimming participation greatly due to the fact that many of my friends dont swim as a sport but only recreationally so because of that I haven 't developed that skills I would need to be at a competitive level. My family have influenced me to participate in many sports throughout the years including swimming but swimming wasn 't the main sport I was influenced to do therefore causing this to effect my swimming ability and participation. Also the people I look up to as role models haven 't influenced me to participate in swimming as they not
