“HIIT” is a form of exercise where you work at a level that is just below your body’s full potential. The work period can range anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes. You will then have a rest period where you do little to no work so that you can catch your breath and allow your body a little recovery. You would possibly do this a few times in one session for eg: sprints and rest or the new popular sport like Crossfit. “HIIT” is a way to get a high level cardio workout into a shorter period of time. “HIIT” training tends to burn more calories in this shorter period of time because of the body working just below its full power output. Some studies have shown that this form of training also tends to burn more calories after training while your body is trying to recover. This period is called EPOC (excess post-exercise oxygen consumption). “HIIT” training can also be fun because it can be changed up with different exercises allowing your body to get stronger without getting used to the same routine form of exercise.
It has been researched that “HIIT” promotes fat-burning and blunts fat production through enhanced metabolic machinery in muscle cells. It has been researched that “HIIT” benefits the “couch-potato” fitness level more than the endurance level athletes. Endurance athletes seem to be to fit to benefit from doing a “HIIT”
