The film Fast Times at Ridgemont High directed by Amy Heckerling is a “drama and teen film” involving the students in Ridgemont High coming of age. This film shows many different people’s views of their life in high school and how they have had many challenges to face and how these students were able to come over them. It is hard to say who is the protagonist is this film because there are so many to pick from. I would say the top two protagonists in the film are Stacey Hamilton and Jeff Spicoli. Although these teens are both dealing with two different situations they are able to overcome them in the end. Stacey is stuck in trying to find a guy to hook up with and trying to figure out what love is. Getting stuck between choosing the good or bad guy is a typical situation high schoolers might deal with and is what Stacey is trying to figure out. On the other hand you have Jeff Spicoli dealing with yet another typical issue in high school, passing a class while too preoccupied with life to keep him on track. Fast Times at Ridgemont High has many setting and yes Ridgemont High is one of those the main setting is the town mall. There is very little of the school shown and when it is shown it’s really just inside Mr.Hand's classroom. This shows you how although you are dealing with problems and go through a lot of ups and downs in high school most of all if your issues doesn’t take part in the actual school. Although struggles exist with the classes you take this movie is showing how important it is to find yourself through overcoming situations that come your way.
