Family members engage in a vast range of activities with an aim to promote health and prevent diseases. These activities tend to differ from one family to the other. Health care providers play a valuable role in promoting the health of the people in the community. Nurses are able to give recommendations on the most appropriate disease prevention strategies. As a health promotion strategy, she was advised to comply with the food restrictions recommended by the physician. The family follows a low-sodium, low-carb and low-fat diet. Following a healthy diet helps keep cholesterol under control and assist with weight loss. The family, including the children, are a part of the planning and food preparation. Having to deal with a stretched schedule disrupts the eating plan for the family. The family is committed to strict nutritional modifications. It is practical that the family keeps a heart healthy diet to address health related issues.
Elimination Pattern
In respect to proper elimination, several negative attributes were identified. Some members experience occasional constipation. They do not use laxatives, they correct constipation by increasing fiber, drinking more water and other home remedies. Members of the Ford family have daily bowel movements. The family is able to recognize that lack of exercise, diet, and water intake all contribute to bowel elimination problems. No one in the family has had urinary infections or any other urinary problems.
