Memory is usually defined as the ability to encode, store and retain certain pieces of information that we deem important and want to recall at some point. However according to certain psychologist your memories aren't always an accurate representation of what you once saw or experience. One of the few places in which this study can utilized is within the field of law enforcement. Everyday eye witness testimonies are used to incriminate or clear up those who are in question for committing a crime. However if law enforcement officers or lawyers manage to utilize the techniques within the study they could possibly alter the testimonies of those who are witnesses in the case. One should also keep in mind that the participants of the study previously mentioned were college students who on average should have a higher IQ than a normal pedestrian. So it is entirely possible for almost anybody to be fooled into constructing a false memory.
