There were about 25 national ports where a boat ended to get to be safe and wait for the next trade wind and during there time on that port they would eat rest and repair there vassals for the next trip. The privateers would take over there ports and it was legal because there weren’t any recognized governments. There eventually became a time where there were too many corporations for the ports so fees where being paid to have peopled enter and leave. The Atlantic slave trade took a huge part in this time because West Africa’s were becoming a target to slave in malarias. Due to the malaria belt located in the rainforest white men were being affected the most because they weren’t immune to it like most Africans were.
