World War II began September 1st, 1939. As most world powers fought in Europe and Asia, The United States stayed neutral. The U.S. feared that we may repeat World War One. It wasn’t until December 8th, 1941(two years later), The United States became involved in the conflict. The factors that brought America into the war were, economic interests, German attacks on U.S. supply ships, the threat to national security, and the most central factor, The Attack on Pearl Harbor.
The first factor is Economic interests. October 1929 the United States entered The Great Depression. The only way to perk the economy back up was to supply people with jobs which would cause the American public
