The first type of locus of control is internal locus. Internal locus is when a person believes that their achievements and rewards in life come from their own hard work and decisions. To a student it’s better to have internal locus because that means you work hard and study for the grades you get. So a student with internal locus ends up having a higher academic record.

There are many things you can do to be a successful student such as take good notes, study those notes, and manage you time and work space. Keep an agenda so you know what you should be working on and what can wait. Don’t put work off to the last minute, all ways get your work gone before hand so you don’t have to worry about anything being late. Don’t multitask because you could get confused, forget something, or even so the wrong work for the wrong class. Sleep is very important for a student because it improves your working memory and sharpens your focus. Eating is also of big importance to a student, if you don’t eat you’ll be sleepy and won’t be able to focus as well. Snacking throughout the day is a good way to be sure you stay focused and attentive in class. Keep a few snacks with you and be sure it’s okay with you teachers if you can eat. If you can eat in class then snack on something small in the hallway. Also make sure your snack isn’t heavy in carbohydrates.
