Explanation Of The Song 'Black Eyed Peas'

The Black Eyed Peas did a song, Where is the love back in 2003 depicting the struggle and problems going on with the nation at the time. It was done post 9-11 and addressed government corruption and terrorism. This year, The Black Eyed Peas came up with an updated version of the song because of wanting to remind people that there's still problems that need to be addressed and changed for the better. I believe the song accurately depicts what's been happening in our nation, but has not addressed everything. Theres many problems in our country, but the song specifies in addressing ones the artist think is important now. The 2016 version, which closely resembles the older version, addresses police brutality, discrimination, and indifference of human beings. …show more content…
It doesn't suggest the state. I think the poets and musicians and artists are of the age - not only do they lead the age on, but they also reflect that age” (Lennon). I agree with his statement especially with how accurate the new version addresses some of the problems going on in our nation. Our nation is going to some tough time, with discrimination among races and indifference among our kind. There has been the killing of many black people by policemen without reason or danger happening today, yesterday and will most likely happen tomorrow. They are not justified by their actions and the song addresses the situation in clear. I got the idea that the song wants everyone to work together as one to make change in our nation for the better. The 2016 video of the song, Where is the love shows many artist and known celebrity names of any color to signify the

Throughout the video it’s an emotional rollercoaster. People that can relate things like emotional harm, will immediately experience pathos. When the music video starts, it shows a very stereotypical american family, that we all think of. A wife that cooks the husband breakfast and the husband getting ready for work. What really catches my attention is that there’s a low of white colors.…

In the text of the song, Thicke is making the argument that women need to be domesticated to protect themselves from their fragile, dumb, animalistic nature, yet this music video only seems to provide evidence that it is actually the men who have much to learn in order to prevent their animalistic nature from taking over as it does in the music video in the form of a predator versus prey scenario. These older, financially stable men are seen preying on these innocent, child-like women who supposedly can’t care for themselves which supports the notion that the men are actually the problem and they should be kept far away from any woman rather than being the dominant protector like Thicke is attempting to convey they should. Unfortunately, though, the popularity of the song itself and the video proves that Thicke’s perception on gender roles is one that is supported by many people. The notion of men as the protectors of women has been present for a good portion of history, but with feminist movements becoming more and more present and talked about it is sad to see the big players in pop music, such as Robin Thicke, Pharrell Williams, and T.I., supporting the domestication of women which thus supports the loss of women’s rights. When young, impressionable girls and boys heard this song on the radio or…

It is definitely important to remember Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ histories because it helps us understand the hardships they faced as a culture and it can further help us recognise how we can close the gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people share four main world views; culture, land, place and country and relationships. The world view, relationships, is conveyed many times in each of the literary texts by relating back to certain events that Aboriginal elders faced. Three texts that clearly represent the world view relationships are,; Change the Game, by the Colli Crew; Treaty, by Yothu Yindi and Took the Children Away, by Archie Roach. The Colli Crew’s song, Change the Game, is about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people- mostly describing the people of the past; in the text, it states that they are singing from north Queensland near the border.…

The song portrays a range of social problems the people have to grapple with as day go by. The song speaks to the inner city streets of the American society regarding the social injustices leveled against the minority communities especially the African Americans. The white man controls most of the majority hence perpetuating racial segregation right from the media, the prisons to the social environments. This has made people to choose a life of drug dealing and easy money as well as abusing the welfare system because they have no other alternative in a society that does not provide them with a motivation to change.…

The song “Same Love” by Macklemore is a very powerful song that has a deeper meaning behind it. The Song “Same Love” had changed my opinions and thoughts about gay rights and homophobia(people who have phobia of gay) within the hip-hop community and the world. Also it want us youth of our society to think in a new direction. Humans in our society believe that the actions and activities that people are involved are either classified as gay or straight. “Same Love” starts off with the lyrics, “When I was in the third grade, I thought that i was gay, because i could draw, my uncle was, and i kept my room straight”.…
