The way a person can transform their life into an unceasing prayer is by praying from the heart and not the mind. We often hear the expression, “I’ll pray for him”, which is a thoughtful gesture to someone who’s in need. This expression signifies this idea of “mindful” prayer, which is not a prayer from the heart. The way a person prays from the heart is by constantly “going back to the words of the prayer” (Nouwen, pg.9). By constantly repeating the words of the prayer, a person will eventually internalize those words, making them capable of praying from the heart. At this moment, you will be capable of “healing” through prayer because you have internalized these prayers. By internalizing the prayers, you have conducted the transformation into an ideal representation of Jesus. This goes on to support my claim that you cannot be good at prayer simply because everyone must make this transformation into becoming an unceasing prayer. If everyone shifts from praying with the mind to praying with the heart, then we would all be equal to one
