Explain How Having A Basketball Team Would Affect A City

Why having a basketball team would affect a city ? Pittsburgh is in need of another sports franchise because, it would enhance the city and add value as well as pride to the city. Having a basketball team would help bring revenue to our city. People would travel all over the country to see the high level competition. It would allow more job opportunities because they would need employees to work at the games. We will also have top basketball players living in our city which would attract fans to visit. Having a basketball team in Pittsburgh would make it a bigger market. Corporations would be willing to start their businesses in Pittsburgh and they city would grow. It creates economic growth. Fans may want to accept higher taxes or less public services to attract a team to play at that facility. Facilities improve condition of surroundings and provides local opportunities. It allows other things such as the circus for the city to come together to have fun. Facilities also help many people acquire jobs. There are jobs needed throughout the entire facility for people to work. Ticket collectors, concession stand, and workers to maintenance personnel. (Robertson). Construction jobs are also needed to build the facility. If no one builds it, then there is not team at all. Construction of facilities also lower tax revenues. The effect of the jobs cause the employment rate to go up, and unemployment rates to decrease. The facility would not be able to run if there were no workers. Facilities also get rid of federal subsidies. They eliminate tax financing to the people of the city, Facilities don’t just help with teams, there can also be fun events there. Things such as the circus can be held there to help bring the city together and have fun. It would also help a cities market value go up. The profit that they make, the more things can start up. Many teams have a day that they take to help out their community and come up with ways to improve it. Chicago always has a day where they talk about their own life, how it was in their childhood, and ask the kids about their problems. The kids enjoy talking and interacting with athletes to solve problems in Chicago (Masciotra). The main reason is probably to make sure they are not doing the wrong thing or hanging with the wrong people. They encourage them to do better and do the right thing. They may listen to them because they look up to them. It is very nice because sometimes we just need that one person to help us. Professional basketball players would also be living right here in our city. They would be walking down the street. It would be amazing just to see one of the players in Pittsburgh getting food. The owner may start the jr. NBA like some cities have. It’s where kids play in a league just like the NBA. Teams also bring competition to play against for home games. They will play against the current best players. We would not only see the players who played for Pittsburgh but, teams like the Warriors and Rockets is who we would see them play against.
