Personal Narrative: My Personal Philosophy In Life

As I observe my journal entries, I notice if I am not feeling happy then most of my entries I either express being tired or a feeling of neutrality. As a full-time student and as someone who works part-time my schedule does not change. I have a routine every week and I have to follow it in order to complete all of my work. My main focus in my life right now is to earn an undergraduate degree and I tend to put work outside of school, and relationships second. Most of my attention goes to my assignments and doing well on those assignments. I often feel like it is a necessity to do well. If I do not do well on an assignment then it feels like I did not put enough effort. I often express a fear of failure and I use that fear as a motive to continue …show more content…
Individuals are responsible for their own responsible agent and we determine our own development. There is usually a stereotype that people who like existentialism that they are usually people who are gloomy, go through “existential angst,” because there is lack of definition of an individual’s purpose in life and whether the experience of life mean anything at all. As people, we generally try to identify ourselves with a label and try to make sense of the life that occurs around us. Existentialism often examines why we feel like we need a label and when we are no longer able to identify ourselves with a label we often feel sadness. Existentialism observes the complexities of freedom of choice, responsibility, and consequences. Although some people may find it to be a negative way to think, I find that there is a sense of comfort of not knowing one’s purpose. It allows for exploration and learning about yourself as a person. I do not think of it as negative. There are certain aspects in life individuals do not have control in and it is their job to make their own decisions and then be responsible for those …show more content…
I remember creating a plan when I was a teenager, thinking it was bulletproof. I believed I was going to follow and accomplish everything I wrote on that list. Once I left high school and entered college I quickly realized that I did not want to pursue a career in this field. Since that experience I never created a specific list of what accomplishments I would like to achieve. I would not say I have no objectives or goals in life. I want to finish my undergraduate degree, I want to continue my education in a graduate program, and travel. However, I also learned that change happens and to accept changes. Although it is important to have goals, it is also important to not be afraid of change and not feel fear when change happens. Change and experience allows for personal growth. Having an existential influence helps me understand that I do not have control of every aspect in my life, but I can control my own actions and determine how I want to grow as a person. I am not sure what my life purpose is, but I am content with not knowing and experiencing life as it plays

Every Life Matters I really only started understanding the meaning of abortion once one of my mom’s friends had one. Before that I had very little knowledge about abortion. My parents have always taught me to stand by what I believe and that others may have different beliefs. They always told me that I would meet people that would disagree with me and what I believe not only when it came to these kind of topics but many other things as well. Being told that, they told me to always respect people’s beliefs and their points of view because everyone has the right to stand by what they believe, just like I do.…

I have been immersed in a melting pot with many different culturally and economically diverse populations. These unique experiences have broadened my horizons and allowed me to gain valuable communication skills and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. I searched out opportunities to give back and help the people in my community both in volunteering in hospitals, educating high school students, and interning in private practices. I even traveled with the organization Medlife, setting up a medical clinic to provide basic medical care and education to people in the poor and underserved communities surrounding Lima, Peru.…

The idea of existentialism is believed to have been founded by a Danish philosopher named Søren Kierkegaard, who lived from 1813 to 1855. Although Kierkegaard was a religious man, existentialism became a more atheistic worldview as the philosophy further developed in the 20th century. There are many variations of existentialism, but the main idea of it is that human lives has “no meaning unless people give them meaning.” To elaborate, existentialists say that although life itself originally has no absolute answer, humans are free to choose or create their own meaning to life, without being swayed or forced by the voices and ways of society and religion. This is an intriguing worldview, as it not only supposedly answers some of the biggest questions…

We were all born into this world, with a distinct purpose; in which this purpose could be different for everyone. Some individuals purpose in life might be to be an innovator and invent the world’s greatest invention, while another individual’s purpose in life is to help others. By not having a purpose in life we are not living, but just running through the motions. With this in mind, my worldview is extended to be an individual that has a purpose in life to help others and make others happy, through laughter. When I am talking with someone, I try to add humor or words of encouragement to the conversion and try to not talk down on anyone else, but to enlighten their spirits.…

It’s tough to remember the first time that I heard the age-old question about the purpose of life because I’ve heard it so much. However, the first time that I really took time to think about this question was a few weeks ago. I recall waking up in the morning and asking myself a simple question, “What am I looking forward to today?” To my surprise, I couldn’t answer the question and I realized that I was currently living an extremely boring and meaningless life. I then stumbled upon another question, “What is the purpose of my life and what am I going to do in the future?”…
