Most teen moms are not able to provide for their children because they are still young and don't have enough education or work experience, so they have to rely on the government to meet their kid’s needs. They end up paying about 800$ a year for child support because they themselves are destitute. The parents of the teen also suffer emotionally because they themselves are not even done raising their kids. It costs nearly 10,000 dollars to raise a kid their first year, most parents are saving up for their retirement and the last thing on their mind is how they are going to provide for their daughter’s baby. Another side effect of bearing a child is the weight gained. Just like the mom is hungry, the fetus is also hungry, So now the mother has to eat almost twice of what she usually eats. Another factor that contributes to weight gaining is stress. Knowing that you are pregnant while you are still in school can create tons of stress and lead to obesity. The worst part is that some teen’s bodies aren’t fully developed yet and they can’t give birth to a child. If they decide to abort the child there are huge risks that come with that option. For instance, there can be an allergic reaction, there can be an injury to the cervix, there can also be an infection. Worst case scenario is heavy bleeding and possibly death.
