He wanted her so badly to be part of his perfect life, he wanted to hurt something that could have been perfect. Along with harming a relationship, he never Daisy a say in the affair. He would constantly tell her what she had to do and say to Tom, not letting her say one word. Those two facts go hand in hand to connect to Gatsby’s obsession. Gatsby’s states, “You never loved him”(VII.132). He seemingly thinks he is Daisy’s mind and that she needs to listen to him because he is the one that is right. He is trying to take control of her emotions. Daisy soon says after, “Even alone I can’t say I never loved Tom…..It wouldn’t be true”(VII.133). She stands up for herself against Gatsby. She, finally, spoke up for herself to show that she can speak and that she has a say in this relationship no matter what Gatsby believes to be true. Going back when Gatsby and Daisy are with each other and the silk shirts, Daisy starts to objectify Gatsby in a slight but big manner.
