The doctor in The Pearl is the most prime example of greed in the beginning on the book. The doctor is a man of money, he will only help you when your able to pay. After the servant asks Kino if he has money and the servant tells the doctor no the doctor says “I,I alone in the world and I am tired of it (Steinbeck 15).
