Examples Of Chivalric Ideals In King Arthur

In the movie King Arthur, his Knights show chivalric ideals throughout all of their actions. Examples of these behaviors are that they are willing to travel across the wall to save a family who is helpless and will be attacked by Saxons; which is a code to protect the weak and defenceless. Also, the knights chose to go on the final quest even though it would probably kill them due to their respect and courtesy to Arthur and his country; to obey those placed in authority. Other examples from this movie, even though they did not show throughout all of their actions, the Saxons showed a couple of examples of what chivalric ideals they live by and ones they do not care about. At the beginning of the movie a Saxon was raping a Briton woman and the Saxon leader told him not to do that. Even though this movie was not as serious as the others, and I did not enjoy it as much, I was able to catch several examples of chivalric codes. Such examples include Arthur throughout the entire movie stays true to his faith. He constantly prays and express his belief with others, a perfect example of the code that says to keep faith. As Arthur is going from town to town two different chivalric ideals are shown. The first being that each time a man joins to be a Knight of the Roundtable, they are following the code of obeying those placed in authority. They othe ideal shown is never to turn the back upon a foe. When Arthur wishes to cross the bridge, the Black Knight request to fight. Arthur did not reject, he fought until the end - to persevere to the end in any enterprise begun. Other examples include when all of the Knights went on their own quest to find the Holy Grail.
