I have traveled around the world many times and lived in different countries and I was fortunate enough to see life in different ways and the art of language is something I find fascinating. Languages such as Cantonese, Japanese, and even Thai look beautiful and so does their culture and I wanted to adopt that style for my own. A big influence that may sound odd is the fact that I collected soda cans when I was in foreign countries because I loved the way the brand names looked in that country’s dialect because the colors were correct but sometimes the wording was different at it was a work of art all to itself. When I design a logo I take my idea and come up with many relative names that are catchy and then translate them to an Asian language.

Pathos is a powerful tool used to invoke any emotions from joy, anger, jealousy to love that helps the writer connect with the reader. The slogans that I choose were the “Reach out and touch someone” ad for AT&T and the “Think different” ad for Apple. The “Reach out and touch someone” ad for AT&T was the perfect slogan because just about everyone had access to a phone and had someone they wanted to talk to no matter the distance. In the ad a young man moves away from home and calls his mom trying to hide the fact that he was home sick. AT&T successfully connects with anyone who has ever moved, had someone move away or just wanted to be in contact with a loved one.…

The trademark of logos, mascots and names of collegiate sports are on a different level than professional organizations. In professional sports, this situation is where it has hit its all time high. For decades professional sports organizations like the Washington Redskins and Cleveland Indians have been faced with a tremendous amount of trademark controversy over their name or logo. There are many more professional teams facing this adversity but these two have been dealing with the USPTO for years to try to patent their trademark. With that said, because USPTO uses the Lanham Act of 1946, they have denied registration.…

Logos, the usage of logic and facts to support an argument, is evident throughout the President’s entire speech, and it helps build the effectiveness of the speech. The President uses facts such as, “...I’ve ordered the Department of State and Homeland Security to review the visa (waiver) program under which the female terrorist in San Bernardino originally came to this country” (Obama 2) and, “...they [ISIL] account for a tiny fraction of more than a billion Muslims around the world -- including millions of patriotic Muslim Americans who reject their hateful ideology. Imagine a friend of yours, who recently broke a bone and was prescribed some painkillers in order to ease their pain. However, once the prescription ended, your friend still felt that they needed that numbness but couldn't get any more of the prescription filled so they turned to illicit drugs to fill that void. There have been several deaths caused by the plaguing addiction of drugs and alcohol. Drug use is becoming a growing problem that needs to be contained and prevented with the help of an expansion of the organization LAPP (Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program) branching out into its own center called EPLAPP, (Extensive Progression of Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program). To cut back on the drug use and deaths in Licking County, EPLAPP will provide users and abusers with the resources they need to sober up, cutting back on the drug use rate which will cut back the number of deaths. With the creation of EPLAPP, the services being provided will be more in depth and help some with more employees/volunteers to help addicts, along with other resources, such as financial aid, counseling, and sober living facilities. To persuade readers that the expansion is the best way to combat drug abuse, the use of ethos, pathos, and logos will be implemented.…
